Ulin is an Indonesian wood in the class of Ironwood as it’s density is greater than that of water; they grow for over 1000 years and represent wisdom and old spirits to many indigenous peoples in Southeast Asia.

Building on a lifetime of experience and exploration to understand the human experience and how we fill spaces with items and ideas. Living in Japan while studying Kendo and travelling for several years was a major influence on style and aesthetic taste. Travelling by bicycle I became fascinated with the temple builders, tatami weavers, potters and other artisans as well as the soul of Bushido within the people with whom I was training daily in my local dojo.
Post Secondary education in the sciences and engineering as well as art has lent to occupational experience including woodworking, fabrication and design in the orthotic/prosthetic industry, winemaking, bicycle industry, handyman, marine repair and pyrotechnician to name a few. I am currently connected to Woodshop Vancouver https://www.woodshop.coop/ for greater possibilities in wood and collaborations in metal.
